We've teamed up with the guys at Celtic Quest Coasteering to offer you a Coasteering staycation.
One nights accommodation, breakfast, lunch and an evening meal plus a Half-Day Coasteering Experience for £80 per person.
Coasteering is often described as extreme rock-pooling. Wriggle into a wetsuit, fasten up your buoyancy aid and helmet, listen to the safety brief and you're off.... rock hopping, wave dodging, scrambe climbing and cliff jumping. Explore hidden caves and coves as you work your way along a stretch of the stunning Pembrokeshire coastline. All adventures are tailored to suit each adventurer from non-swimmers to adrenaline seekers. Min age is 8 years.
*Transport is not included, however The Welcome Traveller is easy to find and the Coasteering location is approx a 30 min drive up the coast.

Can't believe how fast these last few months have flown by. I was hoping to put a blog up every month after my last one back in November, but with everything that as been going on it's been impossible to find the time. Anyway here we are in March the sun as been shinning for a whole week, YAY. Really hope this is a sign of what's to come, a great summer is what I think everyone needs right now. So who's seen us on the channel five adverts? It's getting closer to the episode airing & here at the Welcome Traveller we are very excited & also a little nervous. The time we spent with the film crew was a great experience & one that will never be forgotten they are fantastic people to work with & great fun. Its only been a couple of weeks since our final filming & we mis them already. Alex Polizzi as given us tremendous support & we thank her deeply for all that she as made happen. We havn't yet been on the telly but we've had a write up in the local papers and this alone as shown to strike an interest in the people of Pembrokeshire. Let me tell you about the last few months at the Welcome Traveller Inn with Hotel Inspector.

Kirsty & Geoff completed the make over of our room 3 just in time for the return of Alex, was pleased with the outcome & gave her approval so that was re-assuring. Alex then threw us a massive challenge. At 3oclock one afternoon she told us get ready because tonight our restaurant was going to be filled with hungry customers wanting to be dined. I'll save the good parts for you to watch when it comes on the telly. The night proved to be a long one & showed us many thing's to learn from. Alex got to see how we worked & what needed to change in order for us to become more successful so with this in mind she suggested we went to a service boot camp tp help learn on service. So surprise surprise that's what happened. One minite we we're sat in the bar having a cup of tea and then the next we we're all off to London. As much as I want to tell you all about our fantastic experience which led us spending the day working in the best hotel in the UK I don't want to spoil the viewing for you on TV so you'll just have to tune into it when it airs.

We held a launch party on St.davids day which went amazingly. With support from a wide range of local business, from Celtic Quest Coasteering, The Dunes riding Center, YFC, Walkalong way, Pembrokeshire footsteps, Pembrokeshire Anglers Association, Moor farm fishery, Battlefield Live, Clerken Hill Adventure farm, Solva Boat Trips, BP karting ltd, & lots more. The day was a massive success & thank you for that atteneded.

So with the refurbishment of our dinning room, lounge & reception completed we're ready and waiting for the summer rush. We have a lot planed for the next few months so keep your eye out on our events page for more details.

Channel 5 in Tiers Cross

The Autumn has been a very bumpy & exciting time for us all here at the pub. As many of you have heard or seen.

In August Geoff showed me an add in one of his pub magazines, it was an add for the hotel inspector. Now for those of you who are not familiar with this here's a quick recall.

It’s a documentary television series shown on channel 5. A hotel inspector (Alex Polizze) visits struggling British hotels & B&B’s & tries to turn their fortunes by giving advice, suggestions, a make over.

The add was channel five looking for small family run hotels/B&B’s to feature on the new upcoming series. So I gave them a ring and spoke with a very nice lady. The Welcome Traveller fitted the bill & they wanted to come & do a screen test.

Many people in this position (hoteliers) would & have run for the hills when it comes to such a request. I mean anything with the word “hotel inspector” in it sends a shiver down most hoteliers spine. But has everyone is aware times have & been tough for us all so my thoughts were what do we have to lose. Any exposure for the business is good & can only be an advantage for us I suppose.

Anyway the screen test went very well & a week later I received a call, we got it. Since October we have been filming with the film crew & will be up until Feb/March time.

So far so good, for those of you who have watched the series

You will be aware of the hotel inspectors reputation of being ruthless & taking no prisoners. With out giving too much away myself & Geoff have already had a grilling & what a grilling it was!

Theres a long way to go yet and plans are already under way for the make over. Its all very exciting for us at the moment but I think I might go in to hiding when it airs!!!
